Below is info from the soople site:
----------------------------

Soople-easy expert search-

Soople is an early English dialect,
which means 'to soften, make supple'.

a site that softens all the
fantastic advanced functions Google offers.
This site is meant for all those
who are not yet familiar
with all the possibilities of Google and all the
required syntaxes.

For instance, one can specify a search by
one particuliar site or filetype
( word, excel, powerpoint and pdf) or an
imagesearch by size and type.

Furthermore there are many useful tools Google offers;
search in the latest news, look up
definitions or use Google as a phonebook.

And last but not least, the Calculator.
This amazing tool let's you do all kind of
(very advanced) calculations.
Soople has added the unit-converter,
which is based on this calculator,
for the conversion of all the
commmon units/measures (meters<--->yards).
Quite supple, if you ask me.

Have a lot of Google-fun

Have you heard of Scroogle? This is a search interface --
created by the non-profit org google-watch.
Put in your search term into the
"google scraper" (there's also one available for yahoo!),
scroogle searches google, and returns google results
WITHOUT ads,
WITHOUT cookies and WITHOUT search term records
(their access log is deleted within
48 hours whereas google keeps this information FOREVER!).

Check it out!

As a side note, there's been a lot of talk lately about google and
the ethics of their aiding in Chinese censorship.
See the boingboing story for more background.

Since 2000, Google has recorded your search terms,
the date-time of each search,
the globally-unique ID in your cookie (it expires in 2038),
and your IP address.
This information is available to governments on request.

New Google tricks

Google Searches
_________________

Phrases can be grouped with quotations, like this:

"Bunker Hill Monument"

you can also use parenthesis
----------------------------

Putting a + in front of the word means it will be added to the search results

"George Washington" +history +bio

Putting a - in front of the word means it will be removed to the search results

"George Washington" -carver

You would get no George Washington Carvers

---------------------------------------

This symbol (|) means OR

so a search could be:

cars (Ford|Chevy)

___________________________________________
Google will take up to ten words so
you can really narrow in
____________________________________________

In google the wildcard is *
you can use this in a phrase
if there is a word you can not remember
Like:

"The * * of Christmas"

Looking for sizes try this:

Nike Sneakers size 8..11

this will give sizes 8, 9, 10 11
---------------------------------------

With dollars,

digital camera 3..5 megapixel $500..1000

this gives you cameras from 500 to 1000

---------------------------------
The Google synonym operator
the tilde (~)
